Man Critically Wounded in Taco Bell Shooting

The victim, who suffered a life-threatening wound Saturday night, is currently in stable condition, police said.

A Union City man is in recovery after suffering a critical gunshot wound outside of a fast food restaurant Saturday night, police said.

According to the Union City Police Department, the shooting occurred at about 10 p.m. at the Taco Bell located at 32002 Alvarado Blvd.

Though the motive is unknown, police believe there was a verbal confrontation involving a group of men outside of the restaurant that evening.

Multiple shots were fired and one victim was struck, Cmndr. Ben Horner said.

The victim was transported to a hospital and, as of Monday afternoon, was in stable condition, Horner said.

The shooting does not appear to be gang-related, he said.

According to Horner, the suspect was described as a dark-skinned male, about 5-foot-6 with a thin build. There was no vehicle description available.

Investigators are actively following the case.
