Juveniles Burglarize and Vandalize 32 Cars at Avalon Apartments

Two 14-year-olds and a 16-year-old were arrested in connection to the crimes.

Three juveniles were arrested Friday morning after a burglary and vandalism spree of 32 cars — including a Corvette and Ferrari — at the Avalon Union City apartments.

According to the Union City Police Department, authorities received a report at about 6 a.m. of suspects breaking the windows of cars in the Avalon apartments parking garage, located at 24 Union Square Dr.

Arriving officers found 32 cars in the multi-story parking garage that were vandalized, burglarized or both, police said.

Shorty after, officers located and arrested three juvenile suspects. The three suspects, two 14-year-olds and a 16-year-old, were arrests on suspicion of conspiracy, burglary, vandalism, auto theft and possession of stolen property.

The suspects targeted cars that had items left in plain view, police said. They also intentionally vandalized expensive cars, such as a Corvette and a Ferrari.

UCPD reminds community members to remove expensive items from your vehicles or store them out of sight.
