Hayward Police Searching for Witnesses After Fatal Shooting

A man was shot and killed Monday night in South Hayward

Bay City News Service -- After Hayward police received calls about a shooting Monday night, officers found a male victim in south Hayward suffering from a gunshot wound before he died, a police lieutenant said.

Around 8:45 p.m. officers arrived in the 900 block of Forselles Way off Tyrrell Avenue. Hayward fire crews treated the victim after officers found him in an area with many apartment complexes, Hayward police Lt. B. Matthews said.

The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Matthews said.

He has not been identified and police are looking for a motive and any witnesses.

Matthews said police are looking for the public's help as it seems not many people saw or heard what happened Monday night.

Officers were still at the scene as of 6:30 a.m., Matthews said.
