FREMONT — A 20-year-old man cut off his penis using an X-Acto knife and was rushed to the hospital early Wednesday morning, a police detective said.
Officers responded to a home in the 4300 block of Mowry Avenue at about 2 a.m. after the man's brother contacted police about the self-inflicted wound, Detective Bill Veteran said.
Police do not believe the man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The man was taken, along with his recovered severed organ, to a hospital so that doctors could attempt to reattach it and so that the man could be psychologically evaluated, Veteran said.
