Four Men Robbed at Gunpoint, Flasher Strikes Again and More From Union City Police Log

The following is a summary of significant crime and incidents reported in Union City between July 4 and 8 as released by the Union City Police Department. Reports have been lightly edited for Patch style.

3 Arrested for Selling Marijuana and Illegal Fireworks

On Thursday (07/04/13) at 1734 hours, Officer Geldermann was dispatched to investigate subjects selling illegal fireworks and marijuana at an address on Medallion Drive. Officer Geldermann contacted multiple subjects as he arrived at the residence. The investigation led to recovery of over two pounds of processed marijuana, over ten pounds of illegal fireworks, more than $1,700 dollars in cash, and a loaded .22 caliber revolver. Three adult males were arrested at the scene as a result of the investigation. 

Couple Arrested With Car Full of Illegal Fireworks

On Thursday (07/04/13) at 20:44 hours, Sergeant Sato stopped a silver Chrysler 300 with expired registration on H Street. Sergeant Sato noticed the vehicle was filled with illegal fireworks as he walked up to contact the adult driver and passenger. To make matters worse, a two year old child was in the back seat of the vehicle surrounded by illegal fireworks. The illegal fireworks were stuffed all around the child’s safety seat. The couple was rewarded with a trip to jail. 

Suspect Drives on Wrong Side of Road

On Saturday (07/06/13) at 00:48 hours, Sergeant Gorrie and Sergeant Souza were driving westbound on Alvarado Niles Road, when they noticed a vehicle traveling on the wrong side of the road. The wrong way driver almost collided with the unmarked police vehicle as it drove over the I-880 freeway overpass. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed as the officers made a U-turn and activated the emergency lights and siren. The suspect vehicle was too far ahead of the officer’s vehicle and was subsequently lost in the area of Medallion Drive. A short time later, an anonymous resident called to inform they saw the suspect vehicle unload several males and drive away on Alvarado Niles Road. The suspect vehicle was stopped by responding officers and the suspect was arrested. The suspect was found to be in possession of a “Billy” club and he admitted to driving on the wrong side of the road. Without the information and assistance of the resident the suspect in this case would not have been arrested. 

House Fire on Fellows Street

On Sunday (07/07/13) at 03:00 hours, officers responded to assist the fire department with a residential fire at an address on Fellows Street. A two story house was fully engulfed in flames as officers arrived. Officers evacuated surrounding homes and blocked off traffic as the fire department worked on extinguishing the fire for over 2 hours. The Deputy Fire Marshal suspected the fire was caused by an illegal aerial firework. 

Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Car on Mission Boulevard

On Sunday (07/07/13) at 05:15 hours, officers responded to a fatal collision on Mission Boulevard, near Holly Leaf. A motor vehicle collided with a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway. The driver of the involved vehicle cooperated with the investigation. The Traffic Division investigated the incident. 

Another Flasher at Local Park

On Monday (07/08/13) at 08:45 hours, a 44 year old female was walking through Case Verde Park. The female victim felt someone touch her buttocks and turned around to see a suspect exposing his penis in his hand. The suspect apologized to the victim as she turned around to face him. The suspect was described as a black male, between 20 and 25 years old, 5 foot 9 inches tall, with a thin build. 

Man Robbed at Gunpoint on Flagstone Drive

On Monday (07/08/13) at 2244 hours, an adult male was walking on Flagstone Drive when he was approached by the suspect. The suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded the victim’s property. The suspect fled the area on foot after taking the victim’s backpack and cellphone. The suspect was described as a black male, between 20 and 25 years old, about 5 foot 11 inches tall, with a thin build. 

Three Men Robbed at Gunpoint on Gemini Drive

On Monday (07/08/13) at 2340 hours, three adult male victims (25 to 29 years old) had just parked and exited their vehicle near 4190 Gemini Drive. The victims were approached by two suspects as they walked away from their vehicle. The suspects demanded money from the victims and threatened to shoot one of the victims when he did not respond to suspects demands. One of the suspects was holding a black semiautomatic firearm during the incident. The suspects fled the area after taking cellular phones and cash. The suspects were described as black male adults, about 20 years old, between 5 foot 7 and 6 feet tall, with thin builds.
