Five people have been arrested in connection with a string of armed robberies that took place last month in southern Alameda County.
Fremont police, with the help of SWAT units from Union City, Newark and Hayward, arrested an adult and three juveniles between the ages of 16 and 17 on Tuesday morning, according to Detective Bill Veteran of the Fremont Police Department.
The adult has been identified as Marcus West, 18, of Union City, according to Veteran.
The fifth and final suspect was arrested earlier today, but details of his arrest and identity have not yet been released, Veteran said.
All five suspects are either Union City or Hayward residents, Veteran said.
The suspects are believed to have been involved in a string of five armed robberies that took place at fast food restaurants and convenience stores in Union City, Fremont and Hayward last month, Veteran said.
The armed robberies included and on Whipple Road in Union City. According to Union City police, the 7-Eleven robberies occurred on March 5 and 9.
The suspects are also believed to have robbed a McDonald’s in Fremont and a KFC in Hayward between March 13 and 19, Veteran said.
All armed robberies were takeover style in which employees and patrons were ordered to the ground. In at least two of the robberies, the clerks were pistol-whipped, Veteran said.
Veteran could not confirm if the suspects were involved in a Union City KFC robbery on March.
Union City Patch will have more information as details are released.
