Updated 4:31 p.m.

Firefighters are on the scene of a one-alarm car fire that took place in the Avalon Union City apartments’ parking garage, located at 24 Union Square Dr.

According to Alameda County Fire Department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles, fire crews have extinguished the blaze but are still on scene.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is not yet known, she said.

The blaze was reported in the first floor of the parking structure at about 3:14 p.m. this afternoon and was put out soon after, Knowles said.

Residents said they were told to evacuate the building but were allowed to re-enter shortly after 4 p.m.
