Did You Feel Small Quakes Near Fremont This Morning?

Two earthquakes hit near Fremont just before 10:30 a.m.

A magnitude 2.6 earthquake was recorded three miles north of Fremont at 10:25 a.m. Monday and was followed by a 2.0-magnitude quake about a minute later, according to the U.S. Geological Service.

Did you feel either quake?

Felt it here...thought someone had dropped a large boulder in the street in front of my house.
Cindy November 26, 2012 at 03:51 pm
I didnt feel either.
Julie Tsen November 26, 2012 at 03:53 pm
I did. They didn't "sound" like your usual earthquakes. I thought very high frequency vibration rather than rumbling.

Actually heard it. Did not feel it nor did anything move or swing in house

I felt what must have been the first one. I'm at Washington High School. It felt like a side ways shove from west to east.
Sandi Pantages November 26, 2012 at 04:04 pm
yes - it was more a sound & the sensation of the house creaking than the shaking, but one knows it was an earthquake - kept waiting for more ... (Sandi)

The First one (2.6) was the Precursor to another one (2.7) just 2.9 Seconds later near West Bishop, California which is well over 350 Miles away. Any Event, I got my Raft should we break off into the Ocean. Wink.

Here is the USGS page for this quake:

We still have an old garage door without a garage door opener, and it sounded like someone had slammed it shut.

I felt a small jolt here in Newark as I perused FB.

I felt it here in Newark on my second floor. I am in bed and it felt like something large hit the wall behind me,

Thanks, readers, for these vivid descriptions. It was a small one, but sounds like it had a lil' punch to it.

I am in Newark near the Bridge and felt it.

I was at work in Santa Clara and missed it.
My wife, at home in Alvarado, heard the first one but not the second one. Aparently it was under the location where a large comercial radio tower was until maybe 10 years ago until a truck (PG&E?) backed into a guy wire. There still is a HAM radio repeater there and it was unaffected by today's quake.

I live on the Union City / Fremont border and I hreard and felt a thud like an earthquake but looked at the usual swinging objects and they were still motionless.
