Body Found at Casa Verde Park

There were no apparent signs of foul play, police said.

The body of an unidentified man was found at Casa Verde Park this morning.

Police received a call around 10:20 a.m. about an unresponsive male adult found in the area between Santa Susana Way and San Rafael Way.

There were no apparent signs of foul play, according to Sgt. Tom Gorrie of the Union City Police.

The man appeared to be between the 40s or 50s, possible of Asian descent, police said. He was wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt.

Paramedics responded to the area and attempted to revive the man to no avail. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Gorrie said.

At 11:40 a.m., agents from the Alameda Coroner’s office had arrived to the scene.

Major incidents are rare for the park, Gorrie said.

“This is a safe park,” he said. “We haven’t had any similar instances or any homicides in the area.”

It was not a homicide nor was he troubled. He lived in the area with his family & frequently walked in the parks & surrounding areas for exercise.

@ Langley- Thank you for the correction. I saw him in the park and neighborhood often. Sad.
