Authorities Identify Hayward Man Killed in Apartment Shooting

Leonard Scott III, 43, was shot in the stomach Sunday night at his apartment building.

A Hayward man has been identified by the Alameda County coroner’s office as 43-year-old Leonard Scott III, according to media reports.

Scott was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach at about 10:40 p.m. in the hallway of his apartment building on the 24000 block of O’Neil Avenue. He stumbled from his third-floor apartment to the first floor, where he pulled a fire alarm to alert neighbors, according to the Hayward Daily Review.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Scott’s death may have been drug-related because officers found a small marijuana grow inside of his apartment, the Daily Review reports.
