Armed Robbery at Smith Convenience Market

Police are searching for a man reportedly robbed the store clerk at gunpoint.

Police are searching for a man following an armed robbery of a convenience store Friday morning, authorities said.

Officers of the were called to the Smith Convenience Market at 3834 Smith Street, at 11:23 a.m., according to Lt. Kelly Musgrove of the Union City Police Department.

Upon investigation, police learned that the store clerk was robbed at gunpoint by a male wearing a red bandana over his face who was last seen running toward a condominium complex off Fredi Street near Shinglewood Court, Musgrove said.

Police searched the area until about 12:05 p.m. but were unable to locate the suspect, Musgrove said.

No injuries were reported.

According to previous reports, the convenience store has been robbed at gunpoint before.

An armed robbery was reported on May 14 when two people entered the store and one person robbed a clerk at gunpoint while the other jumped over the front counter and stole money out of the cash register, .
