14 Arrested in Union City Prostitution Sting

The sting was held last Thursday at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Union City.

More than a dozen individuals were arrested following a prostitution sting at a Union City hotel last week.

According to the Union City Police Department, 14 individuals were arrested on Thursday, March 28 in a joint operation led by the Union City’s community policing unit and the Alameda County Vice Enforcement Team.

The objective of the sting was to recover sexually exploited juveniles as well as arrest juvenile and adult prostitutes, pimps and “johns.” However, no minors were located, Union City police said.

The sting was conducted at Crowne Plaza Hotel, located at 32083 Alvarado-Niles Rd. in Union City.

Undercover operators made contact with possible prostitutes through phone calls and ads on known prostitution websites. Officers then directed potential prostitutes and johns to the hotel where they negotiated exchanging sex for money.

The suspects were subsequently arrested misdemeanor prostitution and soliciting prostitution charges, police said.

A majority of those arrested were area residents from Union City, Fremont, Newark, Castro Valley, Hayward and Oakland.
