James Logan High's wrestling team continued its season-long quest of keeping De La Salle in its rearview mirror, defeating the Spartans 34-22 Saturday night in the North Coast Section Division I East Bay dual team championship match at Dougherty Valley.

"Our guys wrestled really smart and really physical," Colts coach Eli Baghosian said. "We didn't want to give up any big points to De La Salle. They're the defending dual and tournament champions, and we want to challenge them."

Two weeks ago, the Colts finished 60 points ahead of De La Salle at the Mission San Jose Invitational.

The Division I championship match started with Logan's Jacob Macalooley beating Jack Walsh 8-2 at 145 pounds, and the Colts never let up. Logan's Amandep Kane followed with a 4-3 victory over Justin Pease.

The Spartans won the next two bouts, including a 64-second pin by Gavin Hummel at 170, for 9-6 lead. But it was short-lived. The Colts wheeled out two more returning NCS medalists and each won, including a 69-second pin from Clayton Hartwell.

Jacob Donato, also a returning NCS place-winner, clinched the match and the title for the Colts with a 17-6 romp over the Spartans' Kevin Dille.
