Guy Emanuele, who was superintendent of the New Haven Unified School District from 1976 to 1998, died on Jan. 5. He was 83.
There will be a memorial service for Emanuele on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 4:30 p.m. in the Guy Emanuele Pavilion at James Logan High School.
Born in Pittsburgh, Emanuele started his teaching career in the DeCoto School District in 1956. He took the helm of New Haven Unified School District 11 years after three districts, including DeCoto, merged to create NHUSD. He is credited with bringing stability to the district, according to an obituary in the San Jose Mercury News.
