Arriving officers found him lying in the street and transported him to a local trauma center where he remained on life support until April 12.

He was the oldest of three children. His brother, Michael, 52, described him as “a happy guy with a sense of humor.”

“[He was] very caring to others,” Michael Napoleone told Patch.

Joseph loved to fish, go to casinos, work and be with people, Michael Napoleone added.

Joseph, a UC Berkeley graduate, worked at the Curran and Orpheum theaters in San Francisco and Ana Furniture in Union City.

According to his brother, Joseph was on his way back from work in San Francisco at the time of the accident. He was commuting via BART and UC Transit.

He was two blocks away from his home, Michael Napoleone said.

Joseph is survived by his brother, Michael, and sister, Katherine, 53. His body will be buried at Chapel of the Chimes next to his mother, Kikue, and father, Louis Frank Napoleone Jr.
