Union City community members have shown their generosity once again by donating more than $2,500 in cash and more than 900 pounds of food to the Alameda County Food Bank via the Queen Anne Court holiday food drive.
Each holiday season since 2006, residents of Queen Anne Court decorate their homes inside and out in meticulous, dazzling details. They open up their neighborhood to visitors in exchange for donations for the local food bank.
From Dec. 14 to 22, residents collected $2,511 in cash and 924 pounds of food, according to William Scalice, one of the food drive organizers.
That’s up from $1,900 in cash and 820 pounds of food in 2012, he said.
“On behalf of the residents of Queen Anne Court and the Alameda County Food Bank, we would like to thank you for your generous support of our food drive,” Scalice said in a statement.
