Weekend Roadwork to Cause Lane Closures Along SR 238 in Fremont

Expect 15 to 20 minute delays, Caltran says.

If you plan on traveling along Mission Boulevard this weekend, be advised.

The State Route 238/Mission Boulevard Roadway Rehabilitation Project is scheduled to resume from Friday at 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday.

The project area will be between Stevenson Boulevard and Las Palmas Avenue in Fremont along Mission Boulevard/SR 238, according to Caltrans. The roadway runs from Hayward, through Union City and into Fremont, leading to I-680.

Motorists should expect 15 to 20-minute delays during the closure, according to the Caltrans advisory.  The construction is dependent on the weather.

Two southbound lanes will be closed with two-way traffic on the northbound side of SR 238.

Northbound traffic will be cut to one land. Southbound traffic will also be on lane and detoured to the east side of the highway.

The weekend long closure is necessary to allow crews a safe area to work, Caltrans said.

If roadwork does not finish by 6 a.m. Monday, detours will remain in place.

To avoid the construction area, follow Walnut Avenue to Paseo Padre Parkway to Driscoll Road and back to Mission Boulevard.
