Monday, June 13

We reported on family and supporters of Michelle Le . Le disappeared from the Kaiser Medical Center in Hayward on May 27. Though police are investigating the case as a homicide, the family is hopeful they will find her safe.

The Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum is currently from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The voting period ends June 30. If the museum wins, staff said they would put the money toward a refrigerated unit to preserve the films.

Tuesday, June 14

A man was around 5 p.m. at the Contempo Homes community, marking the city's third homicide this year. The man was later identified as Keith Hadnot, a 34-year-old Union City man and father of five children.

Logan student Tom Hu shares the story of his after taking special needs student Tanisha Neal as his date. The heartwarming story was one of the most read stories of the week.

A Fremont judge extended a restraining order made by an ex-boyfriend against Giselle Esteban, a Union City woman who police identified as a "person of interest" in the case of missing nursing student Michelle Le. Esteban, a former friend of Le's, was barred from coming within 100 feet of ex-boyfriend Scott Marasigan, who alleges that Esteban exhibited bizarre and threatening beahvior. The original order was filed by Marasigan on May 24, three days before Le was last seen. Read the full story .

Wednesday, June 15

Union City celebrated another milestone with longtime resident Antonio Zendejas, who turned 106 over the weekend. Patch video reporter Richgail Enriquez sat down with Zendejas and his family to learn his secrets for living a full and healthy life. See the video . 

The East Bay Regional Park District asked for help in identifying a man who was killed in a on Tuesday. He is described as an Asian man between 55 and 60 years old, about 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighing about 180 pounds.

A Union City earlier in the week. Following an investigation and mental evaluation, police arrested Prashant Malik on suspicion of child endangerment.

Thursday, June 16

Family and friends shared their memories of Keith Hadnot, the Union City man who was shot and killed Tuesday. Loved ones described the 34-year-old as a compassionate and fun husband, brother and father of five children. “He was a good spirit, a good soul, a good man,” his wife said. Read the full story .

Friday, June 17

The family of missing nursing student Michelle Le kicked off in hopes of finding any evidence in locating Le, who was last seen May 27. The family continues to maintain hope and received strong support from volunteers during the search.

Two men  at 4 a.m. Friday morning. The suspects pretended to buy a bag of chips. When the cashier opened the register, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and demanded cash.

Saturday, June 18

Earlier in the week, the with the use of Measure WW funds. The city would have approximately $1.5 to 2 million in parks and rec dollars from the grant to use on the center, which proponents say will help curb violence in the city.
