A small terrier was killed and its owner injured after the small dog was attacked by two pit bulls Monday morning. Two public works employee spotted the dogs and helped restrain the pit bulls before police arrived. The incident raised concerns among readers about pet control. Read the full story .

More than 100 gathered in Oakland to pay their respects to slain nursing student Michelle Le, whose body was found Sept. 17 after being missing for nearly four months.
