Trees of Angels to Light Up the Tri-Cities

A list of holiday events, including tree lightings, in Fremont, Newark and Union City.

Holiday lights will continue to spark in the upcoming days as Fremont, Newark and Union City host festive Santa visits and tree lightings.

Sponsored by the Washington Hospital Healthcare Foundation, the events are known as the annual Trees of Angels.

Trees of Angels events began in the Tri-Cities Monday with a holiday tree lighting at Fremont’s McDonald’s restaurant at the corner of Mission Boulevard and I-680.

It will continue Saturday with a holiday breakfast, followed by tree lightings in Newark and Union City on Monday and Wednesday, respectively.

The Children’s Holiday Breakfast with Santa and Ronald McDonald will be held Saturday in Fremont at 8 a.m. Reservations are recommending and cost is $10 per person. The breakfast will be held at Washington West, 2500 Mowry Ave.

Newark’s Holiday Tree Lighting will be held on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Newark City Hall, 37101 Newark Blvd. The event will include light refreshments – cookies and hot chocolate – and will include a performance by Newark Memorial High School’s Advanced Choir.

Union City will host its Trees of Angels event and holiday tree lighting on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Nakamura Clinic, 33077 Alvarado-Niles Rd. in Union City.

Launched in 1996, the Trees of Angels campaign helps local residents receive “high-quality, local hospice care,” according to a press release from the foundation, and has raised nearly $450,000 since it began.
