This Week: Ladies Only Soccer Night, Flag Football, 50th Annual Japanese Bazaar

See what's happening around town this week.

Here are five things going on this week that you need to know about:

  • Tonight is ladies night — on the soccer field! Drop in for from 8 to 10 p.m. The event is held weekly every Monday. Bring your girls or roll solo. Staff will divide players into teams each night. Teams will compete in a short-sided format on a 30-by-60 yard field. For more information, call (510) 675-5805 or email maynarde@unioncity.org.
  • Want to eat a 2-foot-long corndog, ride the Zipper and win a giant stuffed animal? Well, this week is your last chance to do so at the Alameda County Fair! The fair is closed Monday but will be open Tuesday through Sunday. Check back on Patch each day to find out the events going on at the fair.
  • Need legal advice? Head to the Union City Library Tuesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. for . Free consultation will be provided by experienced attorneys from a variety of practices, including family, criminal and immigration law. To reserve an appointment, call the library at 510-745-1464 ext. 7 after 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
  • Think you and your boys can hold it down on the gridiron? Then bring your A-game to Shorty Garcia Park for this Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Participants will be divided into teams for five-on-five all passing games on a 30-by-60 yard field.   • Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church's annual fair this weekend! Held all day Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., the will feature cultural performances and exhibits, games, food and more.
