Storms Headed Our Way, Five Days Of Rain in the Forecast

Get out your umbrella as a series of storms is expected to hit the Bay Area

Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.

A series of storms is expected to hit the Bay Area this week.

Rain is forecasted to start early Wednesday with at least showers every day through Sunday, dumping up to 8 inches of rain on parts of the region, a National Weather Service forecaster said Monday.

The storms will start around the time of the morning commute on Wednesday and continue through the weekend, bringing winds of 40 to 50 mph and 1 to 3 inches of rain to most parts of the Bay Area, forecaster Steve Anderson said.

"This is certainly the biggest storm of the season so far," Anderson said. "Typically, we get our big rain events in December and January."

Breezy conditions are also expected on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night.

High temperatures are expected to reach only the mid-60s.

The storms could dampen some of the holiday activities planned around the Tri-Cities.

In Union City, an annual toy drive scheduled for this Saturday at James Logan High School might be pushed back to next week due to rain, organizers said.
