Patch Picks: Five Great UC Boutiques

Shop locally and you'll support Union City small businesses while findng unique and trendy items. Here are five of our favorite local boutiques:

1. , 29220 Kohoutek Way is Union City’s place to go for the latest in Indian fashions. This specialty shop offers a wide selection of cutting-edge clothing, unique fabrics and stylish accessories imported from India. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; closed on Monday. 2. Offering more than its name lets on, is a boutique-style store that sells the latest in shoes and casual clothing for men, women and even toddlers (check out the Dr. Seuss Converse). Brands include Obey, 10Deep, Huf, Stussy and Upper Playground among others. 3. Calling itself Union City’s “best kept secret,” Selyk Boutique's stock "is picked with an eye for the latest trends." Located at 3850 Smith St., Unit #3, this recently opened clothing and accessory shop carries dresses, casual wear, shoes, jewelry, cool scarves and colorful purses. Visit their website to view photo galleries of a sample of what they offer. Selyk is open Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed on Monday and Tuesday. 4. Located within the Safeway Shopping Center at 34560 Alvarado Niles Rd., independent retailer  offers unique urban wear for the young men of UC.  They carry accessories, baseball caps, jeans, T-shirts and shoes from hot brands like Akademiks, Converse, Enyce, L.A. Pampered pets have their own boutique at , 32160 Dyer St. This satellite retail store of the Waggin' Tails Pet Essentials warehouse offers a wide selection of carriers, collars, food, leashes, toys, strollers, supplements, vitamins and more.
