Grab & Go Kids Planner: Feb. 23 - March 1

Free pancakes, math and science fair, spoken word and gymnastics— pick and choose from this week's array of activities.

Where/When: James Logan High School (at The Spot); Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Why Go: Take the family to enjoy an evening of African American history and culture. The event includes student performances of spoken word, poetry, dance and singing.

Where/When: DeVry University in Oakland; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: Expose your K-12 students to the various careers in math and science. You and your family can enjoy hands-on demonstrations as exhibitors, professionals and students showcase real world applications of math and science.

Pricing: Free

TOP FLIGHT GYMNASTICS

Where/When: Top Fligh Gymnastics in Fremont; Sunday, 10 a.m. to noon

Why Go: The last Sunday of each month is Open Gym. Let your kids burn off some of that extra energy while they test their flexibility, coordination and strength in a safe environment.

Pricing: $5 for members; $8 for non-members

HAYWARD SHORELINE INTERPRETIVE CENTER

Where/When: Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center; Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Assist the staff during the daily feeding of the leopard shark tank and learn about the inhabitants of the tank. This event is fun and educational for all ages. 

Pricing: Free

FREE PANCAKE DAY

Where/When: International House of Pancakes (IHOP); Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Why Go: It's free pancakes! Take your whole family to enjoy a hearty short stack before they start their day.

Pricing: Free, but consider leaving a donation for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and other designated charities.
