Why Go: The Union City Certified Farmers' Market is a wonderful source of fresh food for your whole family. Shop the market for fresh fish and seafood in addition to fresh-from-the-fields fruits and vegetables. Bring the kids to play in the playground while you shop. The Market is open year round.

ASIAN AMERICAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL
Where/When: Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church, 32975 Alvarado Niles Rd, Union City, CA; Saturday, May 19, 2012, 11:00 am
Why Go: The festival features over 200 live ethnic performances by visiting performers and local residents from Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, and other Asian Pacific countries.

FREE NILES TOWN PLAZA CONCERT AND ART, GARDEN, AND QUILT FAIR
Where/When: 37592 Niles Blvd, Fremont, CA; Sunday, May 20, 2012, 10:00 am
Why Go: This Sunday, May 20th, The Niles Town Plaza Concert stage will host four folk/Americana acts from 11am-4pm. It's all part of the annual Niles Wild Flower, Art, Garden, & Quilt Show. From 11:00 am - 4:00 pm, hear Adler & Hearne (Texas duo), Atkinson & Kincheloe & Beynon trio, Blah Blah Woof Woof, and McNevin & McClellan on the amphitheater lawn, and all over town too (the town acoustics are great!). This daytime event has music in the plaza, handmade and historical quilts displayed all over town, and garden and art displays all over town.

Why Go: The group is composed of amateur, semi-professional and professional musicians. Enjoy the group's annual summer concert for free.

Why Go: The City of Fremont is hosting its 12th annual Kids 'n Kites Festival in which attendees can fly kits, jump in play houses and play games. There will also be live entertainment.
The festival is free but those who would like to go to the nearby water park between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. must bay a $5 admission fee.
