Car Crash Knocks Out Power to 1,000 Customers

Pole knocked over at Hesperian and Industrial Saturday morning.

By Bay City News Service — A car crash caused a Saturday morning power outage that knocked out service to more than 1,000 households in Hayward and Union City.

A car crashed into and knocked down a 55-foot utility pole at Industrial Boulevard east of Hesperian Boulevard in Hayward around 5:40 a.m., PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris said.

Power was restored to all customers as of 7:51 a.m., she said. PG&E personnel will remain at the site of the downed pole throughout the day to make repairs.
