During construction, the Union City Boulevard median will be reduced to allow the lanes to be widened. The pavement will be slurry sealed and restriped in order to add the new bike lanes, according to the city.

The City of Union City plans to continue installing bike lanes along Union City Boulevard from this project area south to the Union City city limit at Fremont. When those future phases will occur has not yet been determined as funding has not yet been allocated, according to city staff.
