Niles Pie's Got Pie

Niles Pie Co. has reached their Kickstarter fundraising goal, but still has rewards available until Friday, Nov. 16! Their baked good use local & organic ingredients, many grown right here in Fremont.

Well, Niles Pie made their Kickstarter goal, thanks to huge community support.

The campaign's not over until this Friday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m., so they are aiming for some stretch goals to take them a little above their "shoestring" budget.

Because Kickstarter is an "all-or-nothing" platform, they went for the lowest amount they could use for opening their permanent kitchen space. To entice new pledges, or to encourage backers to increase their current pledges, Niles Pie has added some new incentives, including pie donations to local non-profit organizations. For every $100 in pledges received until the end of the campaign, they will donate another four pies to Life Eldercare's Meals-on-Wheels program. People can also contribute to have Niles Pie donate pies to SAVE and to Abode's Sunrise Village.

At the same time as promoting their Kickstarter campaign, Niles Pie is in the thick of preparing for their Thanksgiving pie crush.

Staying local, they are using organic pumpkins from Fremont's Perry Farms in their pumpkin pies. In addition to the standard Thanksgiving pies, Niles Pie likes to offer something a little different. They're using local Niles Persimmons in a custard pie, with housemade candied ginger and a gingersnap crumble.

Last year, they produced over 400 pies in one day for customers all over the East Bay. They are expecting about the same amount of orders this year, and are gearing up to meet the demand. They are delivering to a number of business customers in Oakland and Berkeley, as well as to pick-up locations in Livermore, and four locations in Fremont.

See their website, www.nilespie.com for the menu and details on ordering and pickups.
