What's Your Best Ever Thrift Store Find?

This Patch reporter got a pair of comfy shoes for three bucks and some polish. What's your thrift store story?

Papa needs a new pair of shoes.

That used to be a prayer of sorts players uttered when they rolled the dice.

But I was focused on foot wear when I visited the thrift store last week and found a pair of slip-on shoes (I hate laces!) that cost three dollars.

Sure, they needed a bit of polish but that was no problem. I was in the U. S. Navy and my drill instructors taught me how to do a spit shine.

It was a friend who turned me into a thrift store shopper. Now I often think of buying used when I need something commonplace.

Not long ago, for instance, I got a crock pot so I could slow-cook meals while I'm away at work. It cost just five bucks and has saved me a bundle.

Are you a thrift store shopper? What do you usually get, and what's your best find? Please share your story in the comments section. And upload a picture if you have one handy.

My best is dollhouse well this is one for the books! My friend find a dollhouse which after looking on the internet for 5 years, I found out there are only three of this type of dollhouse bulid I am sure there are more. But the thing is it is hard to build and it is large and heavy! It is called the "The Nob hill dollhouse by Walmer By House Company! The company had sold all of the designs to RealGood Toys Company! But the blue print for this one dollhouse was not sold! I was told that the company's owner had passed away and it was a special house he had designed! I ok only know this much information about this Nob Hill Dollhouse , if anyone else has this dollhouse I would love to know! I have find second one in Canada the third in The USA, and mine being th oldest1 Jean It came with every piece of dollhouse furniture and then it came with a miniature hand signed miniature baby! I love this dollhouse and it is wall paper, carpeted and wallpaper and even wired! Also enough pieces of miniature furniture to fill three other doll houses! This by far the best I ad found at a thrift store or second hand store!

I have been pretty lucky in my treasure hunting at Goodwill. I have gotten a pair of Italian 18 carat gold cuff links there for $.99! I have found great decorative items by famous Mid Century designers too. I still think wistfully about the chrome and glass Eileen Grey small table I never purchased though.
