Restaurants to Offer Free Meals for Veterans

Various restaurants will honor those who serve with special Veterans Day promotions on Friday

To honor those who have served our country, a number of restaurants are offering free or discounted meals in observance of Veterans Day.

The Military Wallet, an independent website, has compiled a list of chain restaurants and their special promotions for Friday. The website advises that all veterans and active servicemembers provide proof of military service.

The following restaurants have locations in Union City. (Note: call ahead to verify locations, times and participation.)

  • : The “eating good in the neighborhood” chain served more than a million meals last year. On Friday, Applebee’s will again offer free meals with seven entrées to choose from. The Union City location is one of 18 throughout the state participating in the promotion, according to a press release.
  • : From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., participating Chili’s restaurants will offer military men and women free meals from a limited menu of six items. The offer is good for dine-in only; beverages and gratuity are not included.
  • : Participating Krispy Kreme stores are giving away free donuts throughout the day.
  • Subway: Select Subway restaurants will give free six-inch or flatbread sandwiches to military veterans.
  • : According to the Texas Roadhouse website, all locations across the country will provide free lunch for veterans from a limited menu. The free lunch offer runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • : “They serve our country, so we’re serving them a free dinner.” That’s the T.G.I.Friday’s motto for Friday as the restaurant offers a buy one entrée get one entrée special. Veterans and active servicemembers must wear uniforms or present military ID.
