is spreading its yoga bliss to the entire community with a series of fun and free events this weekend.
Quickly establishing itself as a community hub, the recently opened yoga studio kicks the weekend festivities off tonight with its “.” Friends of Purple Monkey members can attend strength and flexibility classes at 6:30 p.m. and candlelight yoga at 8 p.m. for free every Friday this month.
Still not ready to get on the yoga bus? The studio is welcoming folks to come out and receive . The event is also a sidewalk sale in partnership with local merchants.
Starting at 9 a.m., the community can enjoy fresh chai and sweets while browsing earrings, bowties, necklaces and other accessories made by Heather Boyer of Ukay Ukay Moda. (See the .)
It’s not just yoga that Purple Monkey offers. On Sunday, staff will partner with Dragons Den MMA for a joint and yoga class.
Participants will meet at 9 a.m. at , located at 2801 Whipple Rd., and ride to Quarry Lakes, where a playful yoga class will be held. Anyone is invited to join them; just make sure to pack a lunch and water. Community members can also meet at the lake for yoga and a picnic.
The events are part of an ongoing effort to reach out and involve the community, said Purple Monkey owner Rebecca Gatanis. The studio is currently partnered with community group Filipino Advocates for Justice, offering .
Additional community events and classes, including free prenatal teen yoga and a “cancer warriors” programs, will be announced in coming weeks.
