Purple Monkey Offers Free 'Karma Classes" for Pregnant Teens, Cancer Patients

The group also offers free classes for a closed group of at-risk teens.

From Purple Monkey Yoga:

In line with their mission to make yoga assessable to everyone, introduces three new karma classes that are free to the community.  These karma classes are part of the independent, locally owned and family run yoga studio efforts in developing its nonprofit organization Sacred Feet, which aims to bring yoga to people from all walks of life.

The following programs are all part of ongoing classes and support groups that will be offered to community members at no cost.

Teen Warriors

Sundays 2:00-3:15pm (alternate weeks for boys and girls) with Heather Boyer

Partnering with the Filipino Advocates for Justice, these classes are offered to at-risk youth in the local areas. Developing the body and mind, teens build strength and flexibility with flowing yoga postures, balancing poses, visualization and relaxation. Self-reflection and peer interaction create a supportive environment to nourish confidence, body appreciation and connectedness.

Sacred Blossoms: Prenatal bliss for blossoming teen mothers and their babies.

Wednesdays 3:30-5pm with Rebecca Gatanis

This class provides young mothers a chance to step away from the stresses and anxieties and enable them with to come to the present moment to center their spirit, while witnessing the amazing physical changes in your body and connecting with baby. 

Cancer Warriors: Yoga, meditation, and support for survivors and those battling.

Saturdays 2:30-4pm with Kaukaba Mojadedi

Join this warm and supportive group of Cancer Warriors, as gentle yoga poses, breathing techniques & meditation enable students to alleviate symptoms of physical and emotional pain resulting form the experience of cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery.

Rebecca Gatanis, Owner of Purple Monkey Yoga Studio says, “It is an amazing and yet simple concept, that through yoga we are able to provide people in our community who are struggling with stress, anxiety, pain, fear, and things outside their control, a place within themselves that is filled with peace, introspection, relaxation, self-respect, respect for others, and bliss. To fully accept that this bliss or peace is within us at any moment we need is the most powerful tool we can ever give anyone.”
