My favorite is Mexico Tipico because I really like their salsa and pico de gallo. Their food is always fresh, the service is prompt and friendly, and there is a nice mix of locals, business folks, and Union City workers. I always figure the cops can figure out the best restaurants because they have to squeeze in meals in a hurry and during off hours...and I know many of my colleagues at the PD eat breakfast here on the weekends! Of course, to be fair and objective...they also frequent the other restaurants listed. (but this one is my favorite)!! Ben Horner.

Pedros in Santa Clara and Los Gatos is my favorite. Their Los Gatos location is in a great spot on Santa Cruz Ave... Oh, you meant Union City... I don't spend my money in this city anymore thanks to the obscene sales tax rate.

Mexico Tipico has it hands down, but since Carnitas Michoacan closed I go to Hayward for good Mexican food. La Piñata

None, I go to the closest one to me, at Whipple and Medallion, or Los Portales near Target.

I agree with a few comments on here. I go to Mexico Tipico the food is similar to La Pinata's. The food is fresh full of flavor. I get good customer service when I'm there. The warm fresh chips and salsa is so good. Love the salsa there. What is an added bonus is I live right down the street from there. I can walk to the place without driving. When I walk my dog I can smell the food cooking from that place. It always make me hungry from it. The portions are big the prices are good. The food is stick to you're ribs. You will never leave hungry from this place. Yes it is one of the police favorite places to eat. I often see patrol cars parked there. Makes you feel safe at the same time. Check it out sometime ya'll!.

Our family favorite is the green chicken encilada. Also love their salsa and chips. When you're in the mood for fish, try their fillet in garlic and butter. The ingredients are fresh and the food isn't served oily. Portions are large so you can don't need more than one platter for two folks.

Here's a vote for Mexico Lindo! That's where we always go. They always accommodate groups, too, which didn't happen when we tried to take a group to Mexico Tipico.
