Half Price Books is re-opening in its new location at The Hub today, and a grand opening celebration is scheduled for the next three days, according to the company’s website.
The discount book and music store was previously located in the Pacific Commons shopping area but had temporarily been closed pending the move to a larger space.
Half Price Books Executive Vice President Kathy Doyle said the company is looking forward to opening the new location, which will bring back a book store to the Hub. The shopping plaza was once home to a Border's bookstore.
“The success of our Fremont store paved the way for a larger store in the area. Fremont is a wonderful, educated community, and we are glad to expand in a great center like The Hub, especially when many other book retailers are closing stores,” Thomas said in a press release. “At a time when money is tight for many families, we’re happy to offer a great product and a great price for Fremont and the surrounding neighborhoods.”
The store, located at 39152 Fremont Hub, will occupy an 8,800-square-foot space left vacant by the former HobbyTown USA.
To celebrate the relocation of the Texas-based discount retailer, Half Price Books will offer free tote bags and a $5 gift card to the first 100 people who shop at its new location, according to hpb.com. One shopper will receive a $100 gift card in a tote bag.
You must be at least 16 years old to claim the gift, and there is a limit of one tote bag per person.
Half Price Books has dozens of stores in 16 states. Customers can buy and sell their books as well as music — CDs, cassettes and LPs — and movies.
