Don't worry if you were not one of the 400 people who attended a job fair Friday organized by the Fremont Chamber of Commerce.
Patch went on your behalf.
Here are some leads to follow up.
Chamber official Nina Moore said one of the biggest opportunities advertised at the fair was for subcontractors to work on extending BART from Fremont into Santa Clara County.
The Skanska-Shimmick-Herzog joint venture, which has a $772 million contract to run that project, was at the fair inviting applications from subcontractors in a variety of trades, Moore said.
Visit the firm's procurement page to start researching possibilities.
Small businesses, and women and minority-owned businesses are encouraged to apply, she said.
Moore said 14 firms or organizations attended to recruit workers ranging from software engineers to hospitality help. They were:
- Better Homes and Gardens
- City of Fremont
- DeVry University/Keller Graduate School of Management
- Fremont Unified School District
- Lam Research
- Marriott Fremont Silicon Valley
- Valley Yellow Pages
- U.S. Postal Service
To inquire about these opportunities, visit the human resources page on the company or organization's website.
