Alvarado-Niles Taco Bell to Reopen This Year

The fast food restaurant, which shut down after a fire in February, will soon undergo renovations.

Union City residents won’t have to drive to Alvarado Boulevard to get their Doritos Locos fix for much longer.

Closed since , the Taco Bell located at 34525 Alvarado-Niles Road at Decoto Road will soon be renovated, according to city staff.

City Council approved a resolution for site repairs last Tuesday.

The fast food restaurant will undergo renovations this fall with work expected to be completed by the holiday season, said Union City Communications Manager Rhea Serran.

The Taco Bell location shut down after it sustained interior and exterior damage in the Feb. 7 fire. It has been closed and gated ever since, much to the dismay of many Union City Patch readers.

Among the repairs are exterior modifications to modernize the site and keep it in line with Taco Bell’s latest architectural guidelines.

Building improvements include new paint, new signs, handicap parking access, bike parking along the front of the building (facing Alvarado-Niles Road) and upgraded lighting.

The Alvarado-Niles location is one of three Taco Bells in Union City. Taco Bells are also located at . and . on the Hayward border.

This tacobell gave me a week of food poisoning a few days before the fire. I hope the food freshness gets better.

Add a drive-thru. I won't stop there unless it has one.

Sorry to hear about your case of food poisoning but I believe it would be expected if you saw who the food preparers were! Went in to the one on Alvarado Niles (near Dyer) took a look and walked out.

I haven't seen any work being done, so this place probably won't be open by Christmas!
