What's Your Favorite Rainy Weather Song?

Complaining about the weather has always been a favorite way for folks to pass the time. But when it comes to storms, and especially rain, songwriters have had a field day.

There's just something about the feelings stirred up by raindrops pouring water over the Earth that speaks to the places in the heart.

In that spirit, Patch editors made a brief list of our favorite rain songs and hope you'll share yours (and a link, if available, to the YouTube version).

At the top of the list for local editors Zoneil Maharaj and Nika Megino is the 1994 R&B hit "Candy Rain" by Soul 4 Real. The upbeat melody forces listeners to imagine a different kind of rain. The pair's local favorite is Cosmic Machine's "Another November Rain."

Among Zoneil's other rain-related favorites are "Rainin' Game" by the late Mac Dre, Mayer Hawthorne's "I Wish it Would Rain," and Blu & Exile's "Dancing in the Rain." Unfortunately, DMX didn't make the cut. (Editor's note: Some videos may include profanity.)

And stormy weather reminds Nika of SWV's "Rain," New Editon's "Can You Stand the Rain" and Missy Elliot's "The Rain."

• Etta James' "Cry Like a Rainy Day"
• "I Can't Stand The Rain," a great Lowell George tune, as covered by Seal. George put on his solo album, but Ann Peebles made it a huge hit. Seal takes it home. 
• Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Who'll Stop the Rain." 
• the Beatles' "Rain," and Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter"

OK, and one just because to leave it out would be a crime. It's "Stormy Weather," by Billie Holiday. You can listen to this song on the sunniest day of the year, and it would still feel like it was raining.
