Video: Tri-Cities Teens Got Talent

Youth from local high schools perform at an open mic night.

I was sitting at last Friday night, Patch-ing away on my laptop, when a crowd of teenagers flooded the venue.  It was open mic night, hosted by the the Expressions Club of Fremont's American High School.

To be honest, I plugged in my earphones as the first performers were setting up. I needed to focus on work, and I thought I'd tune them out. But the first group, Soundology, a trio of Union City teenagers, stepped up with a guitar and a violin. I was intrigued. And what I heard from them, and those who followed them up, blew me away.

The performers came from all over the Tri-Cities, with students from , Newark Memorial High School and American High School rocking Paddy's through singing, rapping and spoken word.

I was compelled to close my laptop and pull out my handheld Flip cam. Check out the performances in the four videos above.
