'Taste of Union City' Festival to Celebrate Food, Blues and World Music

The daylong event will be held Saturday, Sept. 14 at Kennedy Park. A kickoff party will be held the night before at Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Union City may seem like a sleepy suburb, but there’s a vibrant local culture here. ECS Productions and the Blues in Motion Foundation aim to put it on center stage next weekend at the first Taste of Union City: Food, Blues and World Music Festival

To be held Saturday, Sept. 14 at Kennedy Park, the daylong event boasts three stages of live music featuring blues, r&b, jazz, gospel, dance and world music, along with a car show, games, local food vendors, cooking demonstrations and more.

Food vendors include Mr. Kebab, Mizuumi Japanese Buffet, Taste of Thai, El Taquito, Chaat Bhavan Restaurant, Koh-E-Noor, Gerry’s Grill, Sinodinos and dozens more. Local businesses such as Hernandez Martial Arts, Nina’s Bode, It Is Vapor 5, Diva Pro Defense, Massage Garage and others will also be present.

More than just a food and music festival, the Blues in Motion Foundation wants to give back to the community and will also host a job fair and job skills workshop specifically for veterans.

Festival gates open at 9 a.m. on Sept. 14 at Kennedy Park, located at 1333 Decoto Rd.

Advance tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids. Tickets at the gate will cost $20 for adults and $12 for children.
