Hip-Hop Group Pro Era to Appear at Southland Today

While we just posted about a Metallica sighting in Union City, this one's for the hip-hop fans.

According to a tweet from the Ecko clothing company, rising east coast hip-hop outfit Pro Era and frontman Joey Bada$$ will hold an in-store event today at 5 p.m. at the Ecko Store inside Hayward's Southland Mall.

While they're nowhere near the legendary status of the aforementioned music act, avid rap listeners should be familiar with the heavily praised crew. For those not familiar, the Pro Era camp is sorta like the second coming of the Wu-Tang Clan -- a raw, gritty band of wild styled and skilled rappers, producers and graphic artists. And they're all in their late teens.

Frontman Joey Badass, 18, was recently named one of hip-hop magazine XXL's 2013 Freshmen. His 1999 mixtape and Pro Era's PEEP mixtape both received critical acclaim.
