Watch 11th Street Mural Come To Life

Artist Mona Caron, the creative mind behind the giant mural along 11th Street, has released a video showing the seven-story high piece come to life.

Titled "Taking Root," the short clip features a time lapse video of the creation of the mural alongside the MidPen Housing complex.

In the description, she explains that the land the housing complex now sits on was once a toxic site from industrial pollution and that the fiddlneck wildflower was the first to sprout up on the land. While the flower is the iconic mural's main highlight, it also features the word “welcome” in several different languages at its root and vignettes that illustrate the city’s agricultural past and its vision for the future.
