Union City’s 8th annual Relay For Life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24 and Sunday, Aug. 25 at James Logan High School, starting at 10 a.m.
This 24-hour, nationwide event honors cancer survivors, thanks caregivers and remembers loved ones lost to the disease. Participants also have the chance to learn about ways to prevent cancer, and how to raise money for cancer research and cancer support programs.
Starting on Saturday, 51 teams will camp out at JLHS. Because cancer never sleeps — each team will have a member walking or running the track at all times.
In addition to the relay, the event will feature remembrance ceremonies such as the luminaria. There will also be a variety of fundraising games, raffle prizes, activities for all ages and live entertainment.
If you are interested in participating in Relay for Life or making a donation, be sure to visit Union City’s Relay for Life webpage.
If you are not able to participate or donate — make sure to stop by to enjoy all the festivities, honor cancer survivors and remember those who lost their lives to cancer.
