'Union City Eats' Food Truck Dinner Menu: Aug. 18

The weekly "Union City Eats" food truck festival rolls into town again today. Nine different mobile restaurants covering the food spectrum, from American and Mexican to Thai and Filipino, will line up alongside Walmart from 4:30 to 9 p.m.

Here's the roster for today. (Note: Lineup is subject to change.)

BBQKalbi

• A Union City Eats regular, BBQ Kalbi features a Korean fusion menu that ranges from Kalbi (beef) to Spicy Pollo (chicken) to Kimchi quesadillas. Their unagi (eel) burritos have been a hit at the Union City events.

El Malecon

• Making their second Union City Eats appearance, El Malecon specializes in Mexican seafood. The last time they came into town, they brought with them a tasty menu featuring super ceviche tostadas, shrimp and cheese emapanadas, super steak quesadillas and shrimp cocktails served in a coconut.
  

Grill Stars

• This Fremont-based American BBQ food truck keeps makes sure each visit is a new experience by switching up their menu every week. Keeping fans in suspense, they release their menu the day of the festival. Stay tuned to their Facebook page to find out what's they're cooking up today.

MoGoBBQ

• MoGo BBQ is a local favorite. The truck specializes in Korean BBQ served in (huge!) burritos, tacos, sliders, quesadillas and bacon-wrapped hot dogs with kimchi. Get there early because their lines can get long.

That’s Sweet! Dessert Truck

• Cupcakes — yummy, specialty cupcakes — are the stars of this gourmet truck. Flavors range from Salted Caramel and Maple Bacon to Red Velvet and Chocolate Vanilla. While it may sound perfect for a dessert, don't wait too long — their cupcakes sell out fast.

House of Siam on Wheels

• A mobile version of the House of Siam restaurant in San Jose, the truck specializes in Thai cuisine and includes Thai tacos, Pad Thai, Yellow Curry Chicken over rice and more on their menu.

Twisted Chill

• Also a regular feature at the weekly food truck gathering is Twisted Chill, which offers self-serve soft-serve with eight rotating flavors and more than 20 toppings. Toppings include fresh organic fruit, candies, cereals and more. For today, the truck is offering a free cup of frozen yogurt to the first person who brings a penny from 1985.

The WOW Truck

• The WOW Silog Truck specializes in silogs, a traditional Filipino breakfast served with garlic rice and fried egg. Their menu includes sweet sausage (longanisa), BBQ Chicken, cured pork (tocino), Spam, corned beef and more.

Yumsilog

• Also specializing in silogs, Yumsilog's menu includes tapsilog (tapa), tosilog (tocino), longsilog (longanisa), Spamsilog (Spam) and bangsilog (bangus), which features bangus, the Filipino milkfish.
