Tri-Cities Jazzercise Members Take Center Court at Golden State Warriors Game

Jazzercise groups dazzle Warrior fans for a good cause, raising nearly $50,000 for the Make a Wish Foundation.

members stepped up their game for a special performance during the Golden State Warriors game against the Dallas Mavericks Saturday night. The group joined more than 200 Jazzercise students from around the Bay Area in raising $46,764 for the Make a Wish Foundation.

Inside Oakland Coliseum, 25 Tri-Cities Jazzercise members danced with other Jazzercise groups at center court for the halftime performance that highlighted their fundraising achievement.

According to Tri-Cities Jazzercise owner Laurie Baptista, the Make a Wish Foundation invited her group to perform three years. They've participated every year since. They have also been recognized as the top group to raise money for all three years.

Union City resident and Tri-Cities Jazzercise member Cheryl Louie was the top individual fundraiser. Baptista said Louie raised more than $2,000 in donations.

In addition to reaching out to the Tri-Cities community for donations, the Jazzercise members spent months working on the halftime routine.

"It was a lot of work to rehearse the routine," Baptista said.

The rehearsal before the Warriors game was the first time all 200 Jazzercise members practiced together. 

In the end, they all gave a performance that moved the audience and helped a great cause.

The Golden State Warriors won Saturday night’s home game against the Mavericks, 99-92.
