This Week: Register for Leisure Services Programs, Learn About Domestic Violence, Help Clean Up Union City

Here are five things going on this week that you need to know about:

  • Register for Union City Leisure Services' summer programs! Choose from a wide variety of youth and adult programs, from cooking and dance classes to Jedi Lego engineering and Spy Academy. Check out the Summer Activity Guide online for what programs are available.
  • Business owners: Are you clueless about what the heck a "tweet" is or how to create a Facebook fan page? Then attend the Hayward Chamber of Commerce's seminar this Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at La Quinta Inn in Hayward. The event will feature a social media expert who will explain why social marketing is important and how to use social marketing tools effectively. The event costs $15 to attend. .
  • Learn about SAVE (Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments), a vital community resource that helps domestic violence survivors overcome and walk away from lives of violence, during on Thursday, April 26. Open Doors will introduce the community to their array of services. The event will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. at a location in Union City, which will be given to those who RSVP.   • The City of Union City is encouraging residents to safely dispose of their unused prescription pills this Saturday for . From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., community members can visit the Union City Police Department to get rid of old prescription drugs.
