Here are five events coming up this week that you should know about:

  • The Acacia Creek retirement community will hold its , Oct. 4. Open to the public, the market features fresh produce from the J.S. Perry Farm from 10 to 11 a.m. The market isn't to be confused with the , which also runs every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Union City Kaiser facility. 
  • The City of Union City will hold a special economic development meeting Tuesday night to look at business opportunities in the Old Alvarado and Union City Boulevard area.   • Chabot College is continuing to steer its students toward success with a free entrepreneurial event this Thursday. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chabot's Performing Arts Center, "Own Your Future" will feature keynote addresses from young entrepreneurs, a workshop, a networking event, free lunch and more.   • On Oct. 8, the Washington Hospital Healthcare Foundation will hold its , to raise money to support vital equipment, projects and programs for the Washington Township Health Care District. The celebration will be held at the hospital, located at 2500 Mowry Ave. in Fremont, and runs from 6 p.m. to midnight. This year'd dinner will benefit the new Infusion Center for patients undergoing treatments such as chemotherapy.
