Tell Us: How Do You Reuse or Recycle Halloween Costumes?

Green Halloween Costume SWAP Day is this Sunday.

Halloween time is always fun, and the great costume discussion of 2012 has probably already started.

You may be heading to local stores for your Halloween outfit with local Party City stores transforming for the spooky season and Spirit Halloween opening at NewPark Mall and at the former Circuit City on Whipple Ave. in Hayward.

But new threads for a one-night gig are spendy and you might already have at least a half-dozen costumes hanging around from previous years. So consider reusing, recycling or swapping.

Here's one event: Green Halloween Costume SWAP Day. Hosted by Macaroni Kid Fremont and Pacific West Gymnastics, this event on Sunday gives children the opportunity to get ''new-to-them costumes" and can save parents cash.

All you do is bring an "old" costume (or more) to the event between 2 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. and you'll receive one ticket per costume that can go toward another costume. Children will also be able to participate in open gym for $5 before the swap.

The event will be held at Pacific West Gymnastics, 32320 Alvarado Niles Rd. in Union City.

Have other ways to reuse costumes? Where and how do you trade in, trade up, and share the spookiness? Tell us in the comments section below.

Bunker is doing a program where you can donate your old costumes and then they will resell them the week before Halloween for $5 each and all the money will go to the school.
