'Running Dead' 5K/10K Coming to Union City in November

Registration is also open for the annual Turkey Trot.

On your marks. Get set. Run for you lives!

That’s the premise of Union City Leisure Services' upcoming Running Dead 5K/10K Fun Run and Walk. The recreational run will be held Nov. 3 at Union City’s Civic Center, located at 34900 Alvarado-Niles Rd. in Union City.

Unlike other 5K/10K runs, you’ll have a little more incentive to keep your feet moving fast in this race — there will be a pack of hungry zombies chasing you!

The run will include an optional Zombie Challenge for a $5 fee. Those participating in the challenge will be given two flags to wear on their hips. Zombies will be walking the trail to hunt for flags. If you make it to the finish with both flags on your hips, you’ll receive a special prize.

The run will also include a 5K stroller division and 5K pet walking division.
