Members of the United Motorcycles Club of Alameda County took part in a massive toy drive that serves children in need throughout southern Alameda County.

A quiet Newark neighborhood was filled with the sound of more than 500 motorcycles on Saturday, marking the United Motorcycle Clubs of Alameda County and Newark-based League of Volunteers' (LOV) 4th annual Toy Drive and "Adopt a Family" program.

The United Motorcyle Clubs of Alameda County, made up of more than 50 community-oriented motorcycle clubs from the Bay Area, gathered Saturday morning in Hayward to ride together to LOV's headquarters on Ruchin Drive.

Santa Claus led the pack with trucks filled with donated toys and 500 plus riders following closely behind him.

Awaiting the motorcyclists were children and families that are a part of the nonprofit's "Adopt a Family" program.

And what differenciates this toy drive from other toy drives is that participants get to directly interact with recipients.

Upon arriving, members of the motorcycle clubs personally escort children to a room filled with all the donated toys, and each club member helps a child pick out gifts.

This event continues to grow each year, official said. For more information about LOV, visit www.lov.org. To learn more about the United Motorcycle Clubs of Alameda County, click here.

This is awesome! I heard a long time back that this was going to be cancelled. I am so glad that our community continues to support such a great event.

The intention of the United Motorcycle Clubs of Alameda County is to continue to serve the children and families of the Bay Area. It is only thru the generosity of corporate sponsors and individual donations, partnered with motorcycle clubs and independent riders and non riders from all over the Bay Area and beyond, that we can make Christmas a reality for more and more children each year. Partnered with the League of Volunteer's (LOV) Adopt a Family Program, we have been able to create a wonderful celebration of giving for all involved. We consider it a privilege to participate each year, and feel equally blessed that so many turnout with gifts and donations time and time again . This is an event that will have a long history in the Bay Area. The United Motorcycle Clubs of Alameda County Thank You for your continued support.
