Hundreds of Union City residents gathered at block parties throughout the city to celebrate Tuesday night.
The annual event is observed nationwide to symbolize communities taking a stand against crime.
City sponsored events were held at , , and , with various neighborhood watch groups holding their own gatherings in the Tamarack Knolls, Town and Country, and Williams Way and Davis Street neighborhoods.
The events featured food, fun, games and education about public safety with demonstrations from the , Alameda County Fire Department and Paramedics Plus. also gave a special demo for those celebrating at James Logan High School.
